V25-1050 : ADVERTISING ON HACKNEY CARRIAGES

The Chief Executive advised that a licensing condition restricted advertising to the front and rear doors of Hackney Carriages, subject to appropriate conditions. Signs could be full door size but could not be cut to fit either side of door trims, fixed over door trims or the door trims could not be removed.

The Council had received a request to extend the ability to advertise on the full body area of the vehicle. The Panel were asked to consider extending the condition relating to Hackney Carriage vehicles only to allow professionally prepared vehicles to use the full body area of the vehicle for advertising. Explanatory leaflets demonstrating the process were circulated at the meeting.

RESOLVED

1. That the Council alter its condition relating to restricting advertising on the front doors of Hackney Carriages to allow professionally prepared vehicles to advertise on the full body area of the vehicle, subject to the conditions relating to the standard of advertising still applying.

2. That the Chief Executive be authorised in consultation with the Chairman to draft a suitable condition accordingly.
