V25-1046 : REMOVAL OF TAXI RANKS

The Panel considered the report of the Director of Community Services which considered the use of taxi stands in the Marina and Regent Road, Lowestoft.

The taxi stands in the Marina were no longer used and needed to be rescinded and designated for disabled use. The taxi rank space in Regent Road was increased to allow for further pedestrianisation of London Road North, however, this was unlikely to proceed for some considerable time and it was therefore proposed to reduce the number of ranks by three.

RESOLVED

1. That approval be granted to formally consult with Suffolk County Council, the Police and the Taxi Trade in respect of the taxi ranks in the Marina and Regent Road.

2. That subject to Suffolk County Council, the Police and the Trade accepting the proposals, approval be granted for the Chief Executive to advertise the necessary Orders to amend the taxi ranks and if no objections are received, to confirm the Orders.
