V25-1045 : HACKNEY CARRIAGE AND PRIVATE HIRE LICENSING BUDGET
The Panel considered the report of the Chief Executive which informed members of the present budget position of the Hackney Carriage and Private Hire licensing account. The proposed budget showed that costs had increased over and above the income from licence fees. This could be attributed to inflation over the last three years, during which time the fees had not been increased. It was the Council's policy that this scheme should be self financing and all costs incurred be reflected in the charges levied. For this reason the 1996/97 estimates took into account a fee increase of 3% which would achieve a balanced budget. However, the Council's testing station had requested an increased contribution towards licensed vehicle testing and it was therefore proposed that fees be increase by 3«% across the board. RESOLVED
1. That the proposed 3«% increase in fees be approved and that the Chief Executive be authorised to advertise the proposed increases in fees to come into effect as soon as possible, as follows: Hackney Carriage Vehicle Licence - 1 Year£239.00
Private Hire Vehicle Licence - 1 Year£211.00
Hackney Carriage Private Hire Re-Test £40.00
Transfer of Licence £66.00
Private Hire Operators Licence - 1 Year £23.00
Unfit Vehicle Notice Issued by Enforcement Officer£16.00
Fail to Keep Vehicle Inspection Appointment £36.00
Driver's Licence - 1 Year £40.00
2. That if no objections are received the Chief Executive be given delegated authority to confirm the fees as listed above.
