V25-1011 : W1172/5 - 29-31 TRAFALGAR STREET, LOWESTOFT
Application for conversion of workshop/warehouse to eight cottages.
The Director of Planning and Building Control reported that the former Hannant's warehouse had been the subject of a redevelopment scheme for bungalows, but was dismissed on appeal. The current proposal retained and converted the warehouse for eight small cottages. There was shared amenity space and eight parking spaces around the site. Two objections had been received concerning loss of street parking and noise disturbance. Although the scheme did not conform to the external space standards, was a backland site and only just met parking standards, the proposal did eliminate a non-conforming use which had been a source of disturbance and involved an acceptable use of redundant land and buildings. The recommendation of the Director was for approval, although he suggested that three of the parking spaces should be deleted to make a greater amenity space through to Harvey Street, replaced by these three using the residents parking spaces in Harvey Street. RESOLVED
That the Director of Planning and Building Control be given delegated authority to grant planning permission to an amended application W1172/5, with the deletion of three parking spaces.
