V25-1000 : 313 WHAPLOAD ROAD, LOWESTOFT - APPEAL DECISIONS
The appellant, Vastgrand Ltd, had applied to convert listed and non-listed buildings to create a total of ten flats at the above address. The Sub-Committee's principal concerns were the potentially damaging effect of new residents demanding environmental protection from noise, smells and traffic nuisance from adjacent existing industry. On-site amenity would be further restricted because there was no outside amenity space, with the central courtyard being given over to car parking. The fact that conservation investment in these buildings and their planned residential use would respectively enhance and not conflict with the overall tourism aims for the area was never disputed. The Inspector's decision allowed the appeals and granted permission subject to conditions, including a requirement for noise protection measures. RESOLVED
That the report of the Director of Planning and Building Control concerning successful appeals relating to 313 Whapload Road, Lowestoft be received.
